These terms govern your use of A2A Couriers services. Please read them carefully before using our courier services.
Introduction
These Terms and Conditions apply to all services provided by A2A Couriers, a courier service operating in Accrington, Lancashire, and throughout the UK.
By using our services, requesting a quote, or engaging with our website, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.

1. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions:
- "We", "us", "our" refers to A2A Couriers
- "Customer", "you", "your" refers to the person or company using our services
- "Services" refers to all courier and delivery services provided by A2A Couriers
- "Consignment" refers to goods collected for delivery
- "Collection" refers to the picking up of goods from the customer
- "Delivery" refers to the transportation and delivery of goods to the specified destination
2. Service Agreement
2.1 Acceptance
By using our services or submitting a quote request, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions.
2.2 Service Provision
We will use reasonable endeavours to collect and deliver consignments within the agreed timeframes. Collection is typically within 60 minutes of booking confirmation during operating hours.
2.3 Booking Confirmation
A booking is confirmed when we accept your quote request or booking, either verbally, by email, or through our website. We reserve the right to refuse service at our discretion.
3. Pricing and Payment
3.1 Minimum Charge
Our minimum charge is £30 + VAT. Final pricing depends on distance, van type, urgency, and specific requirements.
3.2 Quotations
All quotations are valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated. Prices are subject to change based on fuel costs, tolls, or other factors beyond our reasonable control.
3.3 Payment Terms
Payment is due upon completion of delivery unless alternative credit terms have been agreed in writing. We accept bank transfer, card payments, and cash.
3.4 Late Payment
Late payments may incur interest charges at 8% above the Bank of England base rate per annum, in accordance with the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
4. Customer Responsibilities
The customer must:
- Provide accurate collection and delivery addresses with valid postcodes
- Ensure goods are properly packaged and suitable for transport
- Declare the contents and value of consignments accurately
- Inform us of any special handling requirements
- Ensure someone is available at both collection and delivery addresses
- Provide accurate contact details for both parties
- Not send prohibited items (see Section 5)
- Comply with all applicable laws and regulations
5. Prohibited Items
We will not accept for carriage:
- Illegal goods or items prohibited by UK law
- Dangerous goods (explosives, flammable materials, corrosives)
- Perishable items requiring temperature control (unless agreed)
- Live animals (except with prior written agreement)
- Cash, jewellery, precious metals or stones (unless specifically insured)
- Items valued over £10,000 (unless additional insurance arranged)
- Items that could damage our vehicles or other consignments
- Hazardous materials requiring special licensing
The customer is responsible for ensuring consignments comply with all applicable laws. We reserve the right to open and inspect any consignment if we have reasonable grounds to believe it contains prohibited items.
6. Liability and Insurance
6.1 Our Liability
We provide a fully insured service. Our liability for loss or damage to consignments is limited to the lesser of:
- The actual value of the goods
- £25,000 per consignment
- The amount recoverable under our insurance policy
6.2 Liability Exclusions
We are not liable for:
- Loss or damage arising from inadequate packaging
- Inherent vice or defect in the goods
- Delays caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control (traffic, weather, accidents)
- Loss or damage to prohibited items
- Consequential or indirect losses
- Claims made more than 7 days after delivery
6.3 Additional Insurance
For high-value items (over £10,000), additional insurance can be arranged at extra cost. Please notify us at the time of booking.
6.4 Claims Procedure
All claims must be notified in writing within 7 days of delivery (or expected delivery date). Claims must include full details of the loss or damage, supporting evidence, and proof of value.
7. Delivery
7.1 Delivery Times
Delivery times are estimates, not guarantees, unless expressly agreed in writing as a guaranteed time-critical service. We will use reasonable endeavours to meet estimated delivery times.
7.2 Proof of Delivery
A signature, photograph, or other confirmation from the recipient constitutes proof of delivery. If no one is available at the delivery address, we may leave goods in a safe place at our discretion.
7.3 Failed Deliveries
If delivery cannot be completed due to recipient unavailability, incorrect address, or refusal to accept, additional charges may apply for redelivery or return.
7.4 Delivery Instructions
We will follow reasonable delivery instructions. However, we reserve the right to refuse instructions that compromise safety or security.
8. Delays and Force Majeure
We are not liable for delays or failure to perform our services due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to:
- Severe weather conditions
- Road traffic accidents or closures
- Industrial action or strikes
- Acts of terrorism
- Government restrictions
- Vehicle breakdown despite reasonable maintenance
- Natural disasters
In such circumstances, we will notify you as soon as reasonably practicable and use reasonable endeavours to complete delivery as soon as possible.
9. Cancellation
9.1 Customer Cancellation
You may cancel a booking:
- Free of charge: Up to 2 hours before scheduled collection
- 50% charge: Within 2 hours of scheduled collection
- 100% charge: After driver has been dispatched
9.2 Our Right to Cancel
We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any booking if we reasonably believe the consignment contains prohibited items or poses a risk to safety.
10. Data Protection
We collect and process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and UK GDPR. By using our services, you consent to our use of your data as described in our Privacy Policy.
11. Intellectual Property
All content on our website, including text, graphics, logos, and images, is the property of A2A Couriers or our licensors. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content without our written permission.
12. Complaints Procedure
If you are dissatisfied with our service:
- Contact us as soon as possible with full details
- We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days
- We aim to resolve complaints within 7 working days
- If unresolved, you may escalate through alternative dispute resolution
13. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation
- Any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law
Subject to the above, our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the charges paid for the relevant service or £25,000, whichever is lower.
14. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by English law. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
15. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting to our website. Continued use of our services constitutes acceptance of updated terms.
16. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
17. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and A2A Couriers. They supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and representations.
